Bus Benches

Challenge

Conceptualizing and designing an out-of-home campaign for the Winnipeg Humane Society to encourage people to foster large dogs. Creating a series of three bus bench ads. Based on conversations with the client, I determined that empty nesters were the target audience: they likely have disposable income, room in their home, and may long for a new companion.

Role

I did it all: the idea, the copy, the design. Since I was dealing with parents who had recently raised teenagers, I used common teen traits to position them as difficult – and suggested fostering a dog is much easier. I used brand colours and fonts to match their style and opted for rounded shapes to match the smooth lettering of the headlines.

Result

I submitted my three designs andThe Winnipeg Humane Society selected my idea as their favourite. They purchased 10 bus benches around the city, and after a few minor changes displayed my designs on main Winnipeg roadways like Portage Avenue, St. Anne’s Road, and Provencher Boulevard. The benches were up from November 2023 to April 2024.
